Sossusvlei

Sossusvlei is situated in the southern area of Namib Desert, Namibia. It is the most attractive area for visitors to Namibia. Sossusvlei means Dead-end-Marsh. Sossus means "dead-end" and Vlei means "Marsh". Sand consists of highly concentrated iron. So, oxidation takes place. 


These are the highest dunes in the world. The highest dune has a nickname of Big Daddy. It is 325 meters high. Most animals live here like Mammals, Reptiles, and Jackals, etc. 24°C is the average temperature of this desert. In winter, the temperature is round about 10°C. In Summer, the temperature is round about 40°C. 


The shape of the Sossusvlei is elliptical. It has rich salty sand. It is counted in the most photographed area.
